Better Game

i can remember that sparkle and shine
that's since slipped away from your eyes
honeysuckle sun, crawling fast for the door
and love doesn't burn anymore
we ALL feel fire flick 'round our ears
it GROWS as summer skies stay clear
it KNOWS just where to tease and bite
and what to WHISPER in the morning light
fall fast, for whatever lights your way
we're the fools who stay wide awake
free me, leave me high and dry
it ain't no surprise, i'm just HOLDING OUT
i won't make a sound
and may you find your brighter side
no man's an island, but i wish to be
floating alone in the sea
driftwood can carry me far till I'm home
I just want to soak my own sun
we ALL feel fire fly fleeting by
my, my it BEATS right 'neath my eyes
and lades my lungs with SAGE and LYE
and waits for a while to WAKE me up at night
fall fast, for whatever lights your way
we're the fools who stay wide awake
free me, leave me high and dry
it ain't no surprise, i'm just HOLDING OUT
i won't make a sound
and may you find your brighter side

Guaranteed Light
05:05
|

Will my fortune run, like a river towards the sun?
brighter everyday, till the moment comes
when i'm burning up, shouting "damn my beating drum!"
for my reason was seduced by its rhythm
was that armchair Aristotle with a life bought from IKEA
really right that night he held me at the station
and shouted "BOY YOU COULD BE A BIG SHOT
but your head is baked and bribed-
you've got time, you've got fire
but you're staring at the sky
and...what are you waiting for?
guaranteed light?
and what is the struggle for?
guaranteed light?
i'm over driving blind...call me a coward but I can't lie
Will my blood run cold if I hold my head below
and breathe till for a second I forget her?
will my ears get warm when I walk on by the girl
who pulls and pulls her hair each time I greet her?
cuz I'm still a boy, who's afraid of wayward time
coming round my naked foot to pull me under
but the Walking Wind tells me not to give in
when there's lovers out there waiting on his shoulder
for a second pair of wings
and what are you waiting for?
guaranteed light?
and what is the struggle for?
guaranteed light?
i'm over driving blind, call me a coward but I can't lie

Thief of Joy
04:24

Feel outnumbered by an ORDER OF MAGNITUDE
by ALL THE VOICES in the new age waste parade
sayin' baby, I have GOT IT bad as you
I'll put up proof, and preach about it EVERY DAY
DAVE has got a tattoo of a naked gypsy love
JANE is down in Rio, bringing Jesus to show off
ANDY eats his heart out for the entertainment of
NO ONE real specific, just the faces he remembers from the bus
PHOEBE drinks her whiskey from a Pocahontas cup
JOHNNY crashed his Beamer with his girlfriend on his junk
CHAD dropped out of Harvard to make snowboard videos
GOD knows what became of, all those diamonds in the rough
You are the thief of joy, but FUN to waste
all of my time with, taking seconds off of EVERY DAY
I feel the spectrum, from LOVE to jealous hate
with the flick of my THUMB when the hour's late
TONY paints their baby as anointed and a fuss
STEVEN tries to reason with his gasbag father's guns
ANDY eats his heart out for the entertainment of
NO ONE real specific just the FACES he remembers from the BUS

Lovers and Saints
06:05
|

When mornings feel like midnight
and like usual i lose my way
i know i'm just a limbo'd soul
and even that only as a I pray
and some years ago, I remember when
I walked out there and back again
With one hundred questions, about the birds and the bees
its just children all at play you see
I never said go and say a prayer for me
but what do I see?
Watch for the rain, it will come back again
and I don't know when
and some of you may have been lovers
and some of you may be saints
but it don't matter now, how our lives came together
i love you all the same
and even if you drift to another cloud
even if you forget my name
remember my friend, remember it now
you shined a light and it forever remains
I never said go and say a prayer for me
but what do I see?
Watch for the rain, it will come back again
and I don't know when
and sometimes I wish my weight would dissolve
and I can't ask you to carry me on
but when it comes to stormy weather,
i could never ask for better than what I've got
